Understanding the Scores: RIM™ & RIME™ Explained
All TRACE Initiative RIM™ and RIME™ scores are developed through a structured, evidence-based framework. These scores reflect a combination of documented public behavior, ideological affiliation, and content dissemination patterns. Our assessments are guided by empirical data and created in consultation with licensed mental health professionals, educators, and risk analysts. These scores are not diagnoses or declarations of criminal conduct. They represent good-faith risk indicators derived from open-source information, used solely to inform parents, policymakers, and education leaders. Recommendations are advisory and grounded in transparency, accountability, and the best interests of children.
What is RIM™?
RIM™ stands for Radical Influence Measure. It evaluates how much a person’s public content (like social media posts, videos, or activism) may promote extremist, violent, or ideologically radical ideas, especially if they’re in a position to influence others.
What is RIM™E?
RIME™ is the Radical Influence Measure for Educators. It specifically assesses teachers, librarians, and school staff for behaviors or content that may cross ethical, legal, or professional lines, especially when it puts children at risk of ideological indoctrination or psychological harm.
What the Scores Mean
How RIM™ and RIME™ Scores Are Calculated (1–10 Scale)
Each score is an average of multiple weighted category assessments, where each category is scored individually from 1–10 based on documented behavior, content, affiliations, or statements.
RIM™ Categories (Radical Influence Measure – general ideological exposure/promotion):
Antisemitic Rhetoric
Glorification of Violence or Terrorism
Anti-American or Anti-Western Narratives
Affiliations with Extremist Groups or Movements
Use of Public Platforms to Disseminate Radical Content
Final RIM™ Score = Average of the 5 category scores (rounded to 1 decimal)
RIME™ Categories (Educator-specific risk factors):
Ideological Classroom Conduct
Use of Educational Role for Activism
Social Media Activity as a Public Educator
Targeting or Marginalization of Students or Groups
Violation of Professional Ethics / Neutrality Standards
Final RIME™ Score = Average of the 5 category scores (rounded to 1 decimal)
Recommended Actions Based on Score
Score 0–2
Activity likely falls within the boundaries of protected speech and professional discretion. No immediate action required; however, periodic review and basic educator training in content neutrality and classroom boundaries are advised.
Score 3–5
Noticeable patterns of concern. Recommend documented internal review of classroom conduct, digital footprint, and external affiliations. Assign formal training on professional ethics, ideological neutrality, and district policies. Increased supervision may be warranted.
Score 6–8
Serious indicators of ethical, ideological, or behavioral breaches. Recommend formal investigation with oversight by district leadership. Notify parents of concerns where appropriate. Mandate corrective training, restrict unsupervised classroom access, and assign supervisory oversight.
Score 9–10
Evidence strongly suggests active misconduct, indoctrination, harassment, or incitement. Recommend immediate administrative leave pending investigation. Report to appropriate state licensing and certification authorities. Pursue formal disciplinary action, and, if applicable, refer to legal counsel or law enforcement.
